I love America.........and I love her history. It's a story of courage to think the impossible, to do the impossible and to trust Almighty God for the impossible. You see, there were a small group of people who set out to the New World.....not for themselves....but because they felt CALLED to further the ministry of Jesus Christ our Lord. Now, you're not going to find that in the public school history books..........but you can find it if you care to do so. But these amazing saints decided to put it all on the line........and set sail in the little ship called the Mayflower. By the time it was all done and they were settled......most of them had lost their lives for the cause. But through it all.........they were THANKFUL. Are we thankful for the hard times in our lives? Are we still thankful when it doesn't seem to be going the way that we think it should? General George Washington who later became our first president, was truly a wonderful man of God. He was humble and full of thanksgiving to our Lord whom he truly belonged to. I love the above picture of him kneeling beside his horse in prayer. He was often seen doing this throughout his military career. He trusted God. He was the first president to call for a proclamation of thanksgiving by the American people. He called for the American people to fast and pray on this day in rememberance of the Lord's blessings in their lives. Fasting and prayer....oh my! lol What a long way we've come from that day in 1789! Now it's family, feasting and football! And that's okay.............as long as we remember to whom we are thankful to........and why. HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!
